A Perfect weekend in Perth
Happy hump day peeps!
Last weekend we had a little vacay in the city to celebrate our anniversary, and because I now have Fridays off work (yay!) I also spent a day with my sister doing fun Perth things.
Three years feels quite momentous because even though we’re engaged, this is the amount of time (according to the Australian Government) it takes for a relationship to become “serious” so now we have the green light to go ahead and start the (super fun and not at all expensive) visa application process.
We thought about planning a trip away but we instead opted to book a night in Perth and have a mini-staycation! Although we don’t live very far out, we still tend to stick to the suburbs and don’t often venture into the city on the weekend.
As I have spoken about before we normally stay in Airbnbs when we travel, but as it was just one night (and our anniversary) we thought we’d splash out and enjoy a little bit of luxury.
So I thought I would share with you some pics of what we got up to, where we stayed and how much weight we gained eating brunch, fish & chips, snacks etc (A.K.A all of the foods).
Friday: Fremantle Markets
On Friday I started off the weekend exploring Fremantle Markets with my sis.
We grabbed a flat white and enjoyed wandering around the covered markets, picking up fresh fruit and veg, some sourdough from Lawley’s Bakery (so good!) and a couple of insanely big and sickening doughnuts as an anniversary gift for Richy.
We had a slow mooch and generally soaked up the Freo atmosphere and then made a pitstop for some food. There are loads of delicious food stalls but one of my favourites is Freo Gozleme – they serve turkish food, baklava and tea; so authentic and yummy! We munched on some flatbreads and then strolled down to Bathers Beach House by the Ocean. We sat on the loungers in the shade and chatted for a while before making our way home; the perfect Friday!
Saturday: The Intercontinental Perth
On Saturday we booked a night at the Intercontinental Perth and headed over there mid-afternoon.
As it was our anniversary the Hotel kindly gave us a couple of glasses of champagne and some sweet treats on the house so we headed up to the roof terrace and enjoyed them in the evening sunshine.
Then we donned our fluffy robes and lay in bed drinking wine, watching TV, ordering room service and eating smuggled in snacks for the rest of the night (basically my kind of heaven).
We were blown away by this beautiful hotel which was so luxurious, in a great location and had amazing service but for a really affordable price; if you’re ever in Perth I highly recommend staying here!
Sunday: Brunch, Bookshops & The Beach
We spent Sunday morning lazing about in our robes, sampling the rainfall shower (which was about as big as our London flat) and generally getting a bit overexcited about having a Nespresso machine in our room.
Leaving on a caffeine high we went to La Veen Coffee & Kitchen for brunch (and more coffee), then explored the city; popping into Elizabeth’s bookshop on Hay Street for a nose and finally we went for a window-shop at Pigeonhole. I was EXTREMELY tempted by this all-natural perfume as I’ve been looking for one that smells amazing but is chemical-free for a while; I may have to go back for it!
It was a beautiful day so afterwards we headed to Cottlesloe beach for a dip and to meet some friends for fish & chips by the Ocean. The gorgeous sunset was just the cherry on top of a perfect weekend!
